New Tampa Players: Come From Away*

Come From Away is a heartfelt, uplifting musical based on a true story from the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

When U.S. airspace was closed, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, a small town in Canada. The local residents suddenly found themselves caring for thousands of unexpected visitors—providing food, shelter, clothing, transportation, and emotional support.

The musical follows both the stranded passengers and the people of Gander as they navigate fear, uncertainty, culture clashes, friendships, and ultimately a remarkable sense of community.
