New Tampa Jazz Nights: Simon Lasky New York Quintet Featuring Allison Nash
As a teaser to their upcoming 2026-27 New Tampa Jazz Nights Series, Tampa Jazz Club presents British born pianist Simon Lasky and his latest project: The Simon Lasky New York Quintet. Lasky, who studied with Grammy-nominated Chuck Owen at the University of South Florida School of Music, where he also later-taught, has been a mainstay on the Tampa Bay jazz scene for close to a decade. A talented composer, he's recorded several albums of original material. His new group features gifted New York based-sidemen Lucas Pino on saxophone, Dave Smith on trumpet, Peter Slavov on bass, Jimmy Macbride on drums, and special guest vocalist and longtime collaborator, Allison Nash. Be sure to join us for some marvelous originals performed by an all-star ensemble.

Tampa Jazz Club presents acclaimed guitarist Dave Stryker, along with retired University of South Florida Director of Jazz Studies Jack Wilkins on tenor saxophone. Known for his distinctive sound, Stryker is among the most prolific artists in jazz. He’s recorded nearly 40 albums, with the last seven going to #1 on the JazzWeek Radio chart, and has recently toured with his trio as the opening act for Steely Dan.

Vocalist Allison Nash, pianist Simon Lasky, and bassist Alejandro Arenas are well-known jazz artists, composers, and band leaders on the Florida jazz scene in their own right. Together, they are excited to launch this new collaboration which interprets and reinvents the great compositions of Burt Bacharach, with a jazz sensibility and for a 21st Century audience. In addition, they will perform jazz standards and their own compositions and arrangements.
