Taiko Drums of Japan with Tampa Taiko (TYA)

Experience Asian culture and celebrations like Lunar New Year, Chinese New Year, and Matsuri Festivals with Tampa Taiko in our Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) program!

They’ll bring traditional music and dancing styles to the stage, including The Chinese Lion Dance, a 3,000-year-old Chinese tradition that symbolizes prosperity, luck, and happiness.

According to legends, the dance tells the story of a creature that terrorized villagers with thunder, lightning, and rain through the thundering sounds of drums, cymbals, and gongs. However, the aftermath was an excellent harvest for the villages!
